A Little About Me
Hi I'm Gemma...
I began my career in accountancy practice and became fully qualified. With an art A Level under my belt and an evergrowing passion for design and decorating, I finally took the leap and left accountancy after finding a lack of job satisfaction as I was not able to bring people joy through working in finance.
I am a mummy to two beautiful daughters; Verity and Annabelle, who taught me that happiness is the greatest form of success. With the support of my husband and family behind me, I finally plucked up the courage to start VA Painting and Decorating.
I have always enjoyed painting, decorating and general DIY. But my passion and confidence really began to grow when we moved into our forever family home; a bungalow project, which really allowed me to explore my painting and decorating skills along with experimenting with design and lots of colour.
I have always enjoyed getting my hands dirty and tackling projects head on. From some basic rollering to a quirky new room design using unique materials - get in contact and we will talk through an approach.
Something that has been at the forefront of most of our lives recently is the cost of living. This has meant that many people have begun taking on more DIY and self build projects rather than employing a contractor to oversee and complete the entire project for them. This is something that I am very aware of and I believe is shaping the future of the trades industry. I therefore am more than happy to work with you to complete painting and decorating projects as an option to save you money that can then be spent on other areas of your home and living.
This will hopefully make my services more accessible to a wider range of clients because everybody deserves a beautiful home. At the same time, I am comfortable taking on a project independently from start to finish if that works for you!
I have undertaken a basic plastering course to assist me with ensuring my preparation of surfaces prior to painting are of the utmost quality in order to give a beautiful finish.
